An initiative that has become a tradition for Burgas

The charity initiative “Christmas Tree of Goodness” in the Burgas Regional Administration this year also delighted dozens of children from socially disadvantaged families, as well as children placed in foster families from the Burgas region.

The campaign of the District DI Coordination Mechanism (DDICM) is held for the eighth consecutive year. Thanks to the district governors during these years they have managed to attract many partners and the initiative has become a tradition.

This year, the “Christmas Tree of Goodness” was led by Plamen Yanev, Regional Governor and Chairman of the DDICM Burgas.

More than 300 packages with toys, books, new clothes, diapers, shoes, cosmetics and food products for the children decorated the tree. A number of organizations, schools, companies, citizens and employees of the Regional Administration of Burgas took part in the noble initiative, among them: the Zonta Club Burgas, the Women’s Club of Science, the Women’s Association “Self-consciousness”, the Church “Annunciation” and many others.

Christmas packages were also donated by students from the specialty “Social Pedagogy” at the “Asen Zlatarov” University, children from the Burgas schools “Lyuben Karavelov”, “Elin Pelin”, “Kliment Ohridski”, “Pancho Vladigerov” School of Music and Performing Arts, Professional High School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronics, as well as by the little Valeri, who left his 6 packages, but without adding more information about himself.

On the day before Christmas Eve the packages reached the needy children and families through the Child Protection Departments in the district, the Community Support Centres, the foster families and the cases with which the regional coordinator of Hope and homes for children – Bulgaria works.

The Regional Governor and the organizers of the campaign Hope and homes for children – Bulgaria, the representatives of the social institutions – the Child protection departments and Community Support Centers, the team of the project “Accept Me” thank all donors for making the upcoming holidays brighter and more joyful for children at risk.
