Today, May 11, 2018, a meeting was held at the Ministry of labour and social polici between Mark Waddington, Chief Executive of HHC – UK, Stefan Darabush, Regional director for Central and Southern Europe, Georgi Simeonov, Executive Director of HHC – Bulgaria and Rositsa Dimitrova, Deputy Minister of labour and social policy.
Hope and Homes for Children and the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria look and go in one direction in terms of ensuring children’s right to grow up in a family environment. Efforts are focused on developing effective policies aimed at creating services for children and families. Hope and homes for children, through their tools of ACTIVE family support and District DI Coordination Mechanism, help children at risk of abandonment.
The Ministry confidently implements the DI Strategy http://www.strategy.bg/StrategicDocuments/View.aspx?lang=en-GB&Id=601
In this connection, the placement of children in Homes for medical and social care for children will be stopped and during the crisis situations alternative solutions will be searched. This is an important step in the development of family policies so that children’s rights can be protected. Engagement with children’s problems shows that HHC and Bulgaria can be a catalyst and an engine for eliminating institutional care worldwide.
