Hope and homes for children – Bulgaria supports children to stay in their biological families

On 20 of February 2018 the 15th session of the DDICM – Burgas discussing case work was held in the regional administration. From the start of the meeting Mrs. Turmanova – Deputy Regional Governor expressed satisfaction and thanks from the organized for the second year charity campaign under the motto „Tree of the good“ because of Christmas and New Year in the regional administration. 100 packs with clothes, shoes, products for children and their families with which we worked during the year were gathered and delivered to the families. In the agenda of the session two cases of children at risk were proposed by the Head of CPDs in Tsarevo and Karnobat for debate. On the first case after the report of the social worker and reviewing the case problems, because of the extremely difficult social situation in the family with 3 children the solution will be to place a child in a foster family. Under the second case DDICM will send a letter to the Home for medical and social care for children in Burgas for placement a child above 3 years with disability in a Family type placement center for children with disabilities in Karnobat and by this a child will be close to its parents.

In the session took part 24 representatives of the institutions, members of the DDICM, engaged with the work for children at risk on municipal and regional level. Regional coordinator of national project „Accept me” informed the members of the DDICM for the status of the foster care in the region and members of the DDICM set the question for the necessity of foster parents for children from 0 to 3, which still missing and makes difficult the work of the CPDs on cases of children at risk of abandonment. At the end of the working meeting the Heads of CPD Burgas and Sozopol expressed their gratitude for the extremely quick and adequate reaction and cooperation from the regional coordinator of HHC – Bulgaria  – Evgenia Meserdjieva, who in first case supported two children at 2 and 3 years to stay with their family and in the second provided medical help in Plovdiv for a child from Sozopol, and there a mother was supported and assisted by Kremena Stoyanova – national expert children’s policies in HHC – Bulgaria. This is evidence that professional net of HHC – Bulgaria works effectively in favor of children and families in need.
