On February 1, 2020, a session was held with the children from the Children’s Participation Program at Hope and Homes for Children – Bulgaria. During the session, the children were divided into three groups and were tasked with entering the shoes of the Government, a non-governmental organization and children and youngsters of different social status. In an atmosphere of discussion, questions, fun and conversation, the children began their work. Each group had a time to develop its own strategy and position to clearly describe how it would guarantee the protection of the rights of all children. The children used their knowledge, creativity and ideas and managed to put themselves in the place of the three groups. A key element in the presentations of the three groups was the importance of children’s opinion and free expression, the provision of a family environment for each child, child and youth participation and access to all services, activities and initiatives for all children, as well as the ability of all children to be part of the community, regardless of their status, disability or difficulties.
