Round Table “General Interaction of Institutions for the Improvement of Children’s Future” in Stara Zagora

 

 

On March 27, 2019, at 11.00 am, a round table was held in the building of the district administration Stara Zagora under the title “General Interaction of the Institutions for the Improvement of the Future of the Children”. The guest of the forum was Petya Chakarova, Deputy Regional Governor. The round table gathered for discussion representatives of Regional directorate for social assistance, of the Child protection departments in the field, administrator of the project “Accept me, in the face of Stara Zagora municipality, representatives of Center for community support and Family type placement center, offering services for children and foster parents.

“The goal of today’s gathering is to” speak “as team players our skills for the general interaction in improving the future of children, to rediscover the working steps for effective teamwork, to represent our own point of view and to trace successful case studies, “addressed Veneta Hadjiyska, regional coordinator of Hope and homes for children – Bulgaria for the region of Stara Zagora. She recalled with a brief presentation the model of ACTIVE support for HHC families as a multi-institutional approach involving coordination between all involved institutions at national, regional and municipal level.

A number of issues were discussed at the meeting, among which the current situation of foster care in the area, and the foster families shared experiences, good practices and difficulties encountered in the work process. All 26 participants united around the idea that unanimity and mutual assistance, the exchange of real and timely information and the sharing of “good lessons” are the only faithful way to improve the coordination among all partners in the Stara Zagora District participating in the process of deinstitutionalization and ending the placement of children in specialized institutions.
