On April 23, 2019 in the hall of Regional directorate for social assistance in Haskovo was held a session of the District DI Coordination Mechanism.
The session was opened and chaired by Dr. Stefka Zdravkova – Deputy Regional Governor of Haskovo District.
The session was attended by the director of Regional directorate for social assistance, the directors of Directorates for social assistance, representatives of the CPDs in the field, experts from the Regional Inspectorate, the district administration, Haskovo Municipality, the District Foster Care Team and coordinators of Hope and homes for children – Bulgaria.
The topic of the session was the current state of the deinstitutionalization process and the interaction of all institutions at the regional level to achieve the objectives of the National Strategy “Vision for Deinstitutionalization of Children in the Republic of Bulgaria” and Action Plan 2016 – 2020. At the meeting, institutions reported their activities for de-institutionalization in 2018. The state of the Home for medical and social care for children – Haskovo, the foster care and the development of new services that will support the process of de-institutionalization were discussed. It also outlined the future steps and actions of all stakeholders in the process of institution closure and establishment of the community based social services, which in turn provide children with a family or a close to family environment.
