Over 300 packages with toys, books, new clothes, diapers, shoes, cosmetics, and food products for children decorated the tree
And this year the “Tree of Good” charity initiative in the Regional Administration of Burgas will again make happy dozens of children from socially disadvantaged families, as well as children placed in foster families on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve in Burgas region.
The campaign was initiated by Hope and Homes for Children – Bulgaria and the District DI Coordination Mechanism for Children with the support of Prof. Maria Neykova, Regional Governor and Chairperson of the DDICM Burgas, is held for the seventh consecutive year. In addition to food, diapers, clothes and toys for babies and children from families up to 3, this year the appeal was also for gifts for children up to 18 years of age with whom the CPDs work.
“Charity shouldn’t just be associated with holidays just as a campaign. Charity should be a part of our lives, it should be brought up in the teenagers as a natural process and part of communication,” said Governor Prof. Maria Neykova and expressed her satisfaction that the Regional Administration – Burgas is a pioneer in this initiative, a good example among other state administrations and an active partner of the DI Coordination Mechanism of Children.
More than 300 packages with toys, books, new clothes, diapers, shoes, cosmetics, and food for children were collected in less than 14 days. On the day before Christmas Eve, social workers, and the regional coordinator of Hope and Homes for Children – Bulgaria and specialists from the “Accept Me” project will visit all the children at risk with whom the regional coordinator of HHC and social services have worked during the year and will make happy the children and families from all the municipalities of Burgas region.
Several organizations, schools, companies, citizens, and employees of the Regional Administration of Burgas, “Zonta Club Burgas”, the “Self-awareness” women’s association, Association “Smile”, Executive Agency for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Appellate Prosecutor’s Office, children from Burgas schools “L. Karavelov”, “Elin Pelin”, “Br. Miladinov, K. Petkanov” families and many others joined this noble initiative.
The Regional Governor prof. Maria Neykova, the NGO Hope and Homes for Children – Bulgaria, the representatives of the social institutions – Child protection departments and Community support centers, the team of the project “Accept Me” are grateful to every donor for giving of their time and leaving under the “Tree of Good” a piece of their positivity and kindness and thus gave joy and hope to children and families.
