Successful Parents Training Program

On March 20, 2019 in the Primoretz Hotel in Bourgas, 21 foster families from the municipalities of Bourgas and Karnobat were trained. The training was organized by the District DI Coordination Mechanism, chaired by Prof. Dr. Sevdalina Tourmanova, in partnership with the project “Accept Me” and Zonta Club – Burgas.

The aim of the training was to present and train two of the skills of the International

Successful Parents Training Program and was conducted by two certified trainers to work with this program. The training was attended by Mrs. Maya Kazandjieva – Director of the Social Activities, Health and Sport Directorate at Burgas Municipality, Mrs. Petya Velikova, President of Zonta Club – Bourgas, the “Accept me” project team, and  members of the DDICM.

The foster mothers who have participated in the training sessions were divided into small groups according to the age of the children, and actively participated in the games and exercises. They shared their achievements in raising and educating children, as well as the difficulties in providing fostering care. They have learned and put into practice two new skills – the “ownership” of the problem and how to deal with the children’s unacceptable behavior in a constructive way so as to strengthen and maintain the good relationship that the training program provides for.

At the end of the training, the foster mothers expressed their satisfaction and appreciation for the training they had and their desire to be able to undertake further training for the rest of the training program.
