The National coordinators of Hope and Homes for Children – Bulgaria shared their experience in prevention of separation and reintegration of children at a round table, organized by the Lumos Foundation

 

The coordinators for South and North Bulgaria of HHC – Bulgaria – Kremena Stoyanova and Elena Petkova presented the models of Active Family Support that the organization has been implementing, at a forum, dedicated to the prevention of separation and reintegration of children, organized by the Lumos Foundation in Sofia.

Mrs Petkova and Mrs Stoaynova used practical experience and case studies, related to the closure of baby institutions throughout the entire country, in order to illustrate the way in which prevention of separation and reintegration of children back into their biological families could be achieved. The participants and guest at the event were astonished by the ways in which they can mobilize the resources around the families and actually create a sustainable environment for the children in the community.

The Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Rositsa Dimitrova, the Director of the “Children’s Rights” department at the Ombudsman, Eva Zhecheva, as well as representatives of the Agency for Social Assitance, CPDs, Regional Directorate for Social Assitance and relevant NGOs took part in the forum.
