The thirteenth meeting of the DDICM Burgas took place on the 20th July in the building of the Regional Administration of Burgas.
The meeting began with an urgent matter- the placement of a 20-day-old child, who is in the child’s department of a hospital due to the fact that the mother is not able to take care of the child. Hope and Homes for Children – Bulgaria assisted CPD Pomorie in finding a foster family. There are no families suited to taking care of children under the age of 3 in the region of Burgas, which makes the CPDs’ work very difficult. With a decision of CPD Pomorie the child will be placed in a foster family from another region.
HHC – Bulgaria will cover the transportation costs and will provide nappies and milk for the newborn. The experts looked at two more cases of chidlren at risk – one of a 3-month-old baby from the city of Karnobat, who will soon will also be placed in a foster family in another region. The other case was reported by the Head of the CPD in the city of Sozopol and is a case of a child being taken out of a family but the lack of alternative substitute care on the territory of the region is being quite problematic.
20 representatives of government institutions, members of the DDICM, working on cases of children at risk on both municipal and regional level took part in the meeting. As a continuation of the previous meeting, the Head of the DDICM, Mrs. Turmanova, thanked all organizations and employees of the regional administration for taking part in the donation campaign for collecting clothes, books and shoes in order to help families with children at risk of being abandoned. The „Samosaznanie“ association, “Zonta club” – Burgas and “Chanovete” dance formation, as well as many individual donors contributed actively to the campaign. The donations were enough to pack 40 gift packs that have been given to the children and families that we work with. The field work of the regional coordinator of HHC – Bulgaria is also continuing in the region of Burgas. At the end of the meeting, Mrs. Turmanova handed a thank you letter to the Head of CPD – Aitos, Mrs. Diana Vrabcheva of HHC – Bulgaria for the successful work of the specialists of the department for placing a 40-day-old child in a foster family in Sliven.
