“Participate Now” and a meeting with the Children’s Council

On 9.04.2025, the youth from the Children’s Participation Program and representatives of “Hope and Homes for Children – Bulgaria” were guests at the first meeting of this year of the Children’s Council at the State Agency for Child Protection.

Mrs. Ivayla Kasarova, Deputy Chairperson of the State Agency for Child Protection, opened the meeting and gave the opportunity to “Hope and Homes for Children – Bulgaria” – Boryana Klimentova and Valeria Draganova to introduce the Children’s Council to the launched project “Participate Now!”, which is implemented within the framework of the INSPIRE project: Improving national support for prevention, intervention, and response to violence against children, and empowering victims and is co-financed by the European Union and the Foundation “Workshop for Civic Initiatives” (WFCI).

Young people Emma Nikolova and Nikola Draganov told the Council about the activities they implement with children with disabilities and how exciting it is to support and help your peers. Each of them shared their personal experience and emotion during all the meetings, initiatives and activities and what motivated them to continue to be part of the Program and the project. Their personal stories provoked the young people from the Council to ask questions and discuss this very important topic – support for children and young people with disabilities, accommodated in the Family-type placement Centers in Sofia.

We parted with ideas for continued partnership and exchange of experience. It is always valuable when young people exchange experience and ideas through their eyes.
